BIMMERFORUMS SUCK!!!!!! Wasted Entire Day! Must VENT!

Earlier this week someone told me BimmerForums had a cool photo thread for Calypso Red BMWs. I just got a chance to check it out today. I've been a member there since Oct 2004, but only got like a 2 posts up ever and never did a sig or anything.

Anyway, I decided to post pictures of my car and create my sig and avatar. Apparantly their site is very fcuking strict with the sizes of sigs and avs. So I resized and resized and resized until I got my sig in. Apparantly I couldn't get access to upload my avatar. I tried PMing a mod and the fcuking site tells me I don't have membership privaledges...WTF!? Are these pricks supposed to be BMW Gods?!

Anyway I went about posting pictures. apparantly the photo section only uploads word-links (no thumbs or nothing) and doesn't hot-link photos from other BMW sites so I spent the entire afternoon creating a new webpage just for photos to upload and hotlink to BMW sites

And Finally after some time I got all the pictures of my car up...and I was chatting with some other calypso red drivers about the pics. When all the hotlinks and my sig and pictures I posted vanished...leaving the infamous "red X"....

I was so furious...but I kept my calm and tried to PM and email the mods..but it keeps telling me I don't have member rights and priviledges to PM mods.....

So I was left to post my HELP comment onto the fcuking thread itself!!!

That site is such a mess and all the members seem to have freaking attitudes about their cars....

I swear...I have nothing good to say about that mangled mess of a BMW web forum that calls itself

Yeah, it can be amazing how people make poor mods or admins. I have seen such in other forums. What can you do but join better forums, like ummm oh I just dunno!

Yea, I stopped going there just recently, hence my increased activity here on UB. There are quite a few people over there who are pompous asswipes. I also had the same problem with my sig. I followed all the guidelines, and they still took it down. That forum is just so over saturated that it plain old sucks, and all people do on it is flame each other. It is, however, a good source for DIY's . . and when you find a DIY thread from long ago, you can see the difference- how they talk to each other- how it was and how it is now. Sad. I hope UB never turns out like that!

You suck at the internet.

You need 100 posts + a day on top of that to get avatar privilleges. Therefore, you don't have sufficient privilleges.

Geocities has very little bandwidth. 20 hits on their pages (if that) and your site is dead. Host on imageshack.us or photobucket.com

You probably dissabled pm's in your Control Panel, and therefore can't Pm the admins. Even if you can't do it for whatever reason, they have site feedback/tech support subforum which mods and admins frequent all the time...

so... it's all user error, their forum rules.

And no, their administration does NOT suck. They are very friendly, and very strict in areas other than off-topic.

"AVATARS AND SIGNATURES
Please be advised that members need 100 posts before the Avatar option becomes available in your "User CP" ( Control Panel). Although the avatar image resolution limit is still 116 X 116 pixels, the file size limit is now 8k max, and if you could optimize your avatars even further, it would be extremely helpful for overall site speed. With proper optimization... a 30k avatar can easily become an 8k avatar without any noticeable loss of quality to the human eye.

The enforced signature size limit is a maximum of approximately 600 pixels wide X 240 pixels high in total area. Generally, this limitation is the TOTAL size for ALL text and images in a multi-image signature. In addition to the maximum image, you are allowed two lines of text. Anything over 2 lines of text requires that you subtract 15 pixels per each line of text. Also please consider using the smaller font for any text within your signatures.

anyway I checked it all out....and I realize that even though I was harsh on them... the site still BLOWS!!!!
And is not user friendly....

We ALL aren't Computer Geeks u know! I do other things with my time...but since my car...I've been enjoying hanging out on forums...but I refuse to geek up and man down in order to post simple ass pictures...Emir!

And that is why I do text only sigs where ever I go.

I have found worse forums than Bimmerforums. 669 posts over there and about 60% are in the 8 section.

Try posting pictures on Roadfly sometime.

i like bf.c's classifieds and regional sections, however I do believe we have a better quality member base.
