44 Valedictorians

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...rfield15m.html

That's crazy. The school is insane.

Quote:

This year's 406-member graduating class at Garfield High School features 44 valedictorians. Forty-four students with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages who, over seven semesters of mostly honors and Advanced Placement classes, have never earned less than an A.

Even for a school with a reputation as an academic powerhouse, it's a record number: Last year Garfield had 30 valedictorians; the year before, 27.

Hmmm That's a bit odd. Who's gonna believe that :lol

brien4787 06-16-2005 12:58 PM

my school has about 40... but our class size is like 7 or 800, haha

komodo 06-16-2005 12:59 PM

Wow, we had one.

BaLAnCe17 06-16-2005 07:53 PM

lol sounds like the calsses are way too easy or something. we had one or 2. the next person had a 3.99 because of 1 a-

528man 06-16-2005 09:02 PM

we have ummmmm 0 to 2. lando can back me up that northwood isnt the finest school in the world.

Spieluhr 06-16-2005 09:21 PM

I dunno how many we had, but I can think of three just off of the top of my head that will most likel be valedictorians from my class.

Torque 06-16-2005 09:42 PM

Wow.

Our class had 1. I was the salutatorian...

Chris 06-16-2005 11:31 PM

harry ours has one because we go off numerical GPA's. these schools apparently rank students on a 4.0 scale so anyone with aperfect 4.0 can be valedictorian. Our school however, or any school in fulton county, since they use numerical averages to determine class rank, there's only one (i know for a fact that chs and mhs calculate it out to three digits past the decimal point)

Chris 06-16-2005 11:32 PM

besides, the name of the school is garfield high! :drive2 :lmao :rock :woot :rofl2 :lol

BaLAnCe17 06-17-2005 02:17 AM

ya, we dont factor in AP/CHS/IB courses. the kid didnt take AP calc like the rest of us lol so of course he didnt get the a- there. it would be cool to see how those classes are weighed

Chris 06-17-2005 03:37 AM

in fulton county (GA) all honors and AP classes 7 points are added to you final grade in that class for gpa calculation...but only if you passed the class

komodo 06-17-2005 09:10 AM

I graduated with honors. :rock 87 or higher average through all 4 years.

94bmw325i 06-17-2005 10:26 AM

Think our school only has 1 a year

projal147 06-17-2005 10:49 AM

WOW thats wierd and odd... I've never heard of more than 1 valedictorian, let along 40!!!! That is just a joke. There is no reason for having a valedictorian if there is going to be 40 of them. The title is for the person who is the top of the class, and 40 people all can't be at the top.... I had a 4.0 but wasnt even close to the valedictorian who had a 4.69 (we were on a weighted scale, due to AP's)

That is rediculous.
