Mountain biking, anyone?

Anyone into mountain bikes? For street, I use a Trek 4500. But for the trails, I built a Rocky Mountain from the ground up . . saved a lot by getting parts from eBay. Working on a Bimmer is tough, but bikes I know!

Yea, nice place. Last time I was there, some asswipe kids were tearing ass on their bikes past hikers. No respect for the land or the people who share it. I hate that shit- gives riders a bad stigma. I'm usually at Chimney Rock or Cheesequake Park, going to Hunter Mountain next month. Can't say I've done mountain climbing, maybe I'll give it a try one of these days.

Hunter Mountain....I love that place...I been snowshoeing there along time ago...we did the mountain side (notthe ski side) and went all the way up to the old fire tower and cabin....If you climb the tower to the top you can see for miles in all direction...pristine!!!!

Yeah, I haven't gotten around to disc brakes yet either. It gets expensive when you're into it. The Rocky in the pics has run me about $1600 so far, would have been around 2 grand were it not for eBay. Then there's Rooz & his bro with the $1000 bikes . . . people don't think much about bikes, and when they hear how much you've spent on one, they think you're out of your fricken mind!

Triathlons? I'm impressed, that shit is no joke, man. I also run 15mi per week, but tri's are out of the question for me . . . I can't swim

I used to mountain bike, but not nearly as serious as you guys were. I am more into backpacking. I have made many trips to the High Sierras near Lake Tahoe. I have been out for days at a time without seeing a single person not in my group. The longest trip I have been on so far has been 8 days, and we covered about 75 miles. If my leg heals soon enough this summer I will take a trip up there in mid-august.

Sweet, Marzocchi forks up front . . 24 bikes ain't cheap, they're built like a brick shithouse. Note the gusseted head tube area and the reinforced yokes in the rear. From his setup, looks like he was a dirt jumper?
