Child Labor Laws

hello all. It is 12am and I just got home from a 9 hr. shift at work. I started at 2:45. I also had no breaks in that time period. I am 17 years of age. And I am scheduled to work four days with these hours this week. Is there not a law that prohibits this? And a law that requires all employers to give its employees X amount of time on break for X amount of hours worked?

thanks, I'm not gonna sue these people, I just want one more reason to be pissed off.

In washington you are supposed to have like 10 minutes for every four hours worked. And 30 minutes for lunch every 5-hour work period. You SHOULD be pissed off!

Thanks dude. The way they schedule it up is that they say you will work from 3-7 but we close at 10 (still have to clean for 1 hr.), and no one ever comes to relieve you, so you get stuck working till close but they post the hours that way so they can be legit.

You have rights to breaks as Donald1476 says! They should lighten your work load!

that sucks for break time, were i work i get a 30 min break roughly every 3 hours. if i were to work a 10 hour or longer shift i can get around like 2.5-3 hours of total break time.

I told them I can't work during the week until school gets out. Last night for example I did not sleep at all (I have currently been up for about 34 hrs. with a few 10 min. naps.). Once summer comes the hours will not bother me at all, its good money, and I can make a lot of it. Minimum (7.35) plus 2% of all server and bartender tips, wracks up quick when you have $2,100 hours at the restaurant.
