It's on again right now. If anyone is interested, it will air again on 12/5/07 at 5pm. It's basically about the Z4 assembly line. Pretty interesting stuff tho. They mentioned that it's a misconception that the Roundel represents an airplane propeller . . don't know if they're right or wrong about that.

nick_318is 12-01-2007 04:40 PM

^what did they say it was then?

Dudesky 12-01-2007 06:45 PM

^^They said it's a lot simpler than that. The 4 quadrants mean nothing and only reflects the colors of Bavaria :dunno

Exilion 12-01-2007 08:57 PM

^^ That's the best reason I could find online. All I found is that the circular pattern came from the first german aircraft engine maker Rapp Motorenwerke and like you said the blue and white checker from the Bavarian flag. Pretty pitiful that I don't actually know.

celsdogg 12-02-2007 02:32 PM

^^^ i dunno. i have a 2001 3er book thingy, the one you get from bmw dealers that show all the options for the car and what colors, etc.

on one page, it had all the various incarnations of the roundel, and one was an old one from the 20's/30's that showed the roundel in the propeller of a bi-plane.
