Talking She Lives!!!

Well, it's been forever since I've been on here... so first off 'Hey Everybody!' lol.

My L7 decided to eat it's radiator 2 weeks ago... the fan clutch went out and the fan bit into the radiator, sending fan blade pieces all over the highway and spraying coolant onto the engine. Needless to say I didn't have the $$ on hand to get a radiator, fan, & fan clutch..... however I did have enough to get the starter for my E12. Popped it in, cranked it over, and she started right up! I have a little work to do getting the EGR system removed (and all the other non-essential emissions crap), as well as an oil change (next weekend), cleaning the rest of the interior (this weekend), new thermostat (and check condition of coolant temp sensor and heat sensitive time switch), and installing a stereo. But she runs and I'm commuting in it to work. Boy how I've missed driving a stick.
I pulled the rims off the 7 (gunmetal & chrome M3 replicas) which, imo, make a HUGE difference in appearance. I want to find a euro style fron & rear bumper set to get rid of the UGLY 5mph bumper the US versions had.
Now I'm trying to decide: sell the 7, or hold onto it and do the work? I could put an electric fan set on the radiator instead of the pulley driven one... and I still have to re-install the carpet and do work on the dash, seats, and door panels. Also, I need to replace the odometer gears, and figure out where the gas fumes are coming from (I'm still thinking expansion tank).

Anyhoo... just thought I'd pop in and share. Attached is a pic I took the other day @ work.

Much thanks everyone for the warm return :o)

Believe me, I truely want to keep the 7... it's hard when I have no place to work on it @ the moment (live in an apt), and hardly any time since it's getting into the cold season. I'm still toying with the ideas of both selling and keeping it. Most of the work she needs is simple enough to do - the one that gets me is the fuel smell. If it is the expansion tank itself or one of the valves then it'll be pretty costly to replace. If it's just hoses that's no big deal... either way, still, a place to do the work is my largest problem.

If I do keep it, I'll have to get new rims. I like the look of those M3s on the 5 much more than on the 7. Lol.

Decisions I know just how you feel. Anyway, I'd have a look at your fuel lines. On my car there was a rubber line at the tank that started leaking (kinda like a sponge)
