Am I right or wrong?

I am a fan of The O.C.

Anyways online, Fox has a written episode recap online after each episode airs. The season finale's write up has the word: "Beemer" I think that is wrong... ? maybe I'm just confused, but I thought that Bimmer is the slang for BMW cars and Beamer is slang from BMW motorcycles....

Am I right or wrong...

Right i understand the difference, but the spelling is my issue

Fox spelled it Beemer I have never seen it that way.

I think that is wrong. It is supposed to be Bimmer. right?

And the OC is a good show.

Thanks, that is what i thought. Here is the email i sent Fox and their response.

To The staff of the O.C.,

In the write-up of the season finale, there is a glaring spelling error.

"Jess stops by Trey's place and sees him packing. She makes him another offer he can't refuse – this one involves a stack of money, her step-dad's Beemer, and a trip to Vegas with her."

The bolded and underlined word above, "Beemer" is spelled incorrectly. The correct spelling is: Bimmer

The following article details the origination of the name Bimmer and the difference between Bimmer (for cars) and Beamer (for motorcycles). http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/refere...mmer-beemer.asp

As a BMW owner and enthusiast, I felt it necessary to bring this error to your attention.

Thank you for your time. I love the show, keep up the great work.

Thanks,

Their response:

Beemer is correct - it is slang for BMW

what a buncha bitches. i'm sure they didn't actually go to the site. but BMW cars can be called beemers/beamers/bimmers. however bimmer is only for the cars and the motorcyles are only beemers/beamers. spelling doesn't really matter much. i've actually never heard a non-BMW-enthusiast call it a bimmer. they always say beamer. so i think in the article, many people would not know what bimmer meant.

true, when i got my BMW everyone was like "nice beamer". after a while i decided to stop correcting them cause it took to much effort and since they think that there so smart that they were right and i was wrong, even though i own one. stupid aint it?
