They are all uninsured and there are quite a few that don't/cant have licenses.

When I lived there it didn't look as bad a looking back from up here and trolling Azstarnet. But one of my kids had an attempted carjack at shotgun point in my old T-bird. By a guy on a bicycle no less!

They ran a good news story a while back about a guy that got really lucky that a Doctor from a nearby hospital was going to lunch and happened by just in time to save him--Sounded good until deep in the article they just mentioned in passing that the guy was shot in the chest in a road rage incident.

Don't think that I will go back any time soon.

I think a big part of the problem is how close it is to the border and most of the cops are idiots. At least now Oro Valley isn't that bad. How long ago did you leave? We moved here from CA in 1991. Since then it has grown so much on the north side. (The real north side not over by the santa cruz river/river rd.) Still like I said though I am leaving as soon as I can. I am thinking about going up to NW, just not too close to the coast. Maybe Washington or Oregon.
