to me that is the same as moving an automatic thru low (first, second gear, etc). my old slush box e30 has a position on the gearbox for each of the four gears. steptronic and the like just make it prettier. functionally, its still a slush box to me.
I keep forgetting that - I have a great memory but it doesn't last long
