links in sigs are not allowed specifically those promoting businesses of any kind, you can submit your requests to us if you would like us to review and approve your link.

as far as subscriptions go you can change yours in your account settings and options.

dont get me wrong, your hard work is appreciated, as far as the links go, everyone knows our vendors arent the only people offering them, we just choose habbie because of his great customer service, but if i post a good review of someone from www.thisplace.com that isnt a sponsor, thats not illegal, and its the same thing, no?

some of the mods here brought up to my attention the "link" issue being a form of spam, scams and other garden variety B/S.
we as a group adopted a zero tolerance stand on links, it saves us the time to sort through them and decide which are acceptable and which are not, it saves you from spam and potential scams and our vendors from unfair competition.

posting a review is not the same thing, by design a review is to share a good transaction/interaction and we all have the choice of reading it or not, links on the other hand are a form of advertising, as such we all feel it has no place here at this point and time.

Sorry, i've been AWOL the past two days. Xsperf, our problem arose when we had new members signing up and placing links in their signature that when clicked opened multiple windows. Its conduct such as that which we are trying to prohibit. Unfortunately, we can't follow through on these people if we don't have a clear cut rule about it.


You also have to understand here that UB is not a free community anymore. Komodo isn't paying the bills out of his own pocket every month like he used to. With the way things are now, Our official sponsors help pay the bills, but they still dont' cover all the costs, so the admins are eating some of the cost every month.

These links are counterproductive to our official sponsors who pay to advertise on here. Its not fair to charge some people to advertise on here, while letting others freeload. So people with advertisements (or special permission from the Moderator team) have the advertisements deleted.

We're not all evil though, we offer each and every one of these people the oppourtunity to become official sponsors and help the site grow, however these freeloaders just want to take advantage of our members without giving anything in return. Thats a HUGE no-no in our book.
