I've also been wondering who the heck are half of these new mods, it seems like they have never been on here before until very recently? Some of the names sound like moderators that are on bfc.
Guys, changes can be good, just stick here and we'll see where things are going. I know things seem a bit out of place from what we've been used to, but it's all for the best. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, my door is always open. So feel free to PM me.
AM going to be making a thread shortly about my side of things

see rooz you are a stand up guy you reply, but what about these new people no one knows who the fuck they are and all they seem to do is talk about war and politics in a bmw forum.

I know and trust me, I've said stuff... but just as this is new to us, it's new to them as well. I have faith in UB, always have and always will.
I also know that even though we have quite a a few new UB members, specifically new mods, they have been doing it for a while at larger forums and only want what's best for UB, so rest assure we're in good hands, sicne UB is expected to see a sudden growth, the need for new mods came as well, and the way they do things might be different from what we've used, and if that bothers you, please PM me, as I've said it before, my door is always open to comments and concerns!!
All that I ask is, give them and UB a shot, they are actually some pretty cool guys and can share a LOT of knowledge on BMW's

Okay, so I've read the other threads regarding this upheaval that's going on. It pains me deeply to see that we lost c1apton and drz, and there may be others forthcoming. They may come back, or maybe not, but what this shows me is that while the new staff may have experience running boards and getting things going, they clearly need some work understanding the human experience element of all this. My 6th sense is telling me that Witey, Rooz, Mullet & Chris are walking on eggshells right now, struggling to hold everyone together as this tornado blows by.
I'm a proponent for change, but I believe it must be effected with careful consideration to its perceived as well as projected outcome. You can't just take the stance that "they'll see in time that this was a good thing". If you want others to have faith, you have to give them something to believe in. If you want respect, you have to earn it, no matter who you are or where you come from. The manner in which you present yourself, your choice of words, the character and personality you exude- all factor in. Granted, a handful of members have acted unethically, but that occured in response to the stressful situation. In my opinion, it is the new staff's responsibility to address this proactively, not reactively . . how did you guys let it get that far, or even let it start in the first place? Personally, I see new things like War & Politics being added, but I don't see any existing issues being effectively addressed; things like Rate My Car and the Knowledge Base. You want trust in people through this change, you gotta throw them a bone, give them something to believe that you're taking the right path towards something better. Fix the house before you add an addition.
There are two key models that have to occur in order to quell a social upheaval: integration and assimilation. Newcomers integrate the majority's views, and at the same time the majority assimilates the newcomer's. Together, they form new standards, and the society or culture evolves. Or not, if the balance tips one way or the other. Both parties need to consider this.
However, I'm not satisfied with the way things are being handled. I percieve it as an attack on the securities this site has afforded me/us in the past. The disruption to the feelings of those I care for here really disturbs me. The authoritarian attitudes I'm observing from certain newcomers is unraveling the "social glue" that keeps this community together. I don't have an answer, but I do know that things could be handled a little more tactfully, to say the least. The greatest thing about Harry was that he never made **OFFICIAL** announcements; he conveyed things in a very down to earth way.
Anyhow, I remain here for now, sitting on the sideline with a bad taste in my mouth . . .

I see your point of you and trust me it is well understood. But I also think that we also had a big misunderstanding and I believe we are getting passed that, now we are starting to see things from both sides of the fence, and it seems to be going better.
Now as far as "fix the house first goes" that's in the works too, we have a new mob who's sole job is to fix stuff, lol

so it seems like everyone agrees that the mods are good intentioned... no disagreement there, however i still dont understand the big question
WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING?(dont take that in a bad way)
what i mean is, everyone says, rooz, amanda, chris, they all say "just wait and see" deal, and "bear with us" but no one ever says any specifics, and back to what drz said a while ago, and what linds said, the problem is not so much the war + politics subforum(i never liked it, still dont, but i agree not to post there) but the problem is that #1 it was created without any consent and #2 when there was opposition to it it wasnt dealt with very well...
now i understand the mods are doing something spectacular, and im sure they are, but i still dont understand WHY they arent sharing, i think that if they did share what they were doing people would be much more open minded
lastly, not to stir the dead pot, but this place is never going to be like it was without c1apton, drz, nick.. etc etc(sorry, they really did contribute to that much)

what we are doing is studying the internals of the forum, seeing what is good and what is bad software wise.
we cant announce or share anything at this time because its all on the drawing board and there's no guarantee it will happen, i hate to get all your hopes up only to disappoint.
i have been on this board for a very long time, both Chris and Rooz can attest to the fact, my vision of where this needs to go is the same as that many if not most of you.
at this point there is nothing to announce on our end, but your feedback and suggestions are welcomed. i have seen some bitch, moan and complain but i have yet to get a single suggestion on how to improve this place.
the war and politics forum is optional, has been all along, no one was ever pushed in or out, drz and c1apton chose to leave on their own after we did not comply with their ultimatum.
we can hash this over and over or we can move along, i wish some things were different but hindsight is always 20/20, i have dealt internally with the mod in question as well as publicly with some members, both were out of line, some more so then others but at the end i believe i was fair and even handed.
