As hard as it may be to acknowledge the Isetta in BMW's legacy, the (funny, awkward, ungainly, awesome, weird...) little vehicle actually played a significant part in BMW getting itself (literally and figuratively) back on the road after WWII, and it played a significant role in providing mobility to the German population during that time as well, not a trivial contribution to rebuilding the economy, the country, and the people's sense of a return to normal life. A contemporary of the Isetta was the Messerschmitt KR200, similar in design, but three-wheeled.
Interestingly enough, the designs of these cars are being looked at anew with revived interest in so-called minicars, the next generation beyond the Smart car and BMW's own Mini.

BMW reigned supreme even then.

Dude, chill. You were just posting something to buffer your post count, and people replied. Also, people we're being serious about their posts, they were about as serious as the car your post is about.
And BMW hardly reigned supreme (when people say reigned supreme i imagine this bald white guy with piercings wearing a white pillow case on his head with a swastica tattooed over his heart... can't imagine why i would think that ) in the 1950's. they were doing what they could to survive.
if you had taken a second to read between the lines of your own post, you woulda realized that even though the car was a success, BMW still couldn't afford to produce and sell the whole car so they sold the rights and the engines to others who had the cash to build the car.
So seriously, Learn to do your cotton-pickin research before you decide to mouth off to people who have a vastly superior brain than you do.

you are quite correct in what you are saying regarding bmw and the isetta, I had done my research and all i was doing was trying to blend into the forums and get some kind of topical conversation going, as for post buffering, I don't need to do that, post numbers don't mean jack to me.
You may or may not have a superior brain than me, I don't know nor do I really care, I found your last post to be borderline insulting and totally uncalled for,I do not "mouth off" at anyone nor do I pretend to be superior to anyone else
I joined UB to part of the bimmer owning community in the hope that I could get information about the car I currently own and in the process hopefully help some other owners with their vehicles.
Its called sharing a common interest.
And please do not make assumptions about my intelligence, you do not know me nor are you ever likely to.
^^^ +1. I didn't wanna get involved, but this really irks me. chris, I think you owe stevo an apology. If anyone should chill, it's you. If you've nothing nice to say, then don't say anything. That post was completely out of line.

Yeah, lets just all sit back and take a chill pill.
