my experience with the local BMW dealer

Well, i scheduled the car for a coolant flush, and they performed it, and they were really professional(they are actually really nice guys anyway).. however while i was driving home, my brother who was following me called me up and asks, "is everything ok?"

i say, umm yes, he asks if the car is overheating, i say no, well, long story short, it turns out that while i was driving there was water shooting out, unfortunately the check coolant level does not go on until you turn the car off, but when i got home i realized that they hadnt screwed the coolant cap all the way on(retards, i know)

now everyone makes mistakes, i know, but when i called them and told them about it, they merely said, bring it back and we'll top it off, when i said i live 1/2 hr away and i didnt want the car to overheat the only response was, just tigthen the cap and we'll top it off for you

well i had to go to work so i left the car parked and managed to carpool, but i think im going to call them tomorrow and tell them that i am going to put some distilled water in the coolant and drive the car to work(i need my car) and then have them do another coolant flush when i get the time, because it really isnt my fault that they left the cap unopen

also, whenn iw as picking up the car, they said here is the report card, if there is any reason you wont give me all 5's let me know, i told them i would(i didnt know about the cap yet,) but if they refuse this coolant flush i definately wont be giving them fivs

now, sorry for the really long post, but i know c1apton would know, if they give me trouble, who do i contact, BMW north america or who exactly?

If they don't make it right (re-doing coolant flush) call BMW of NA 1.800.831.1117 ask for customer service. You might also want to leave a note on your console w/that phone # - make it obvious for the tech to see.

yes, i usually do things myself, however i really dont like dealing with coolant, other than the bad smell, the possibility of anything falling on the garage is just out of the question.. its funny, i thought i could trust them, haha

Aww cmon. People make mistakes. I even did that one time. My neighbor who drives an e90 came in for a top off of fluids....and I accidently dropped the coolant cap all the way to the bottom of the engine bay...and it squirmed its way to the bottom of the front bumper.

It took 30-45 minutes of getting it out....no techs there, me the manager, the SA, and the parts manager. It was horrible. I felt really bad. By luckily my neighbor was cool....she just sat on the couches and watched tv while drinking a coke.

I appologized a million and one times.....but yeah, nobody is perfect and they should appologize and try to make it right. It was their fault not yours.

I haven't had good experiences with BMW dealerships either.

One Time a dealer lost my keys, they called me to tell me my car was ready and then couldn't find them when I got there. One of the techs acidentally pocketed them.

As far as something like this goes I would make them make it right, yes people make mistakes but, see lotattendant you made it right before they got the car back, I would much rather have to wait another hour then discover that they didn't put the cap back on.
