My external hard disk stops working

Why of all the sudden the external hadr disk makes strange sound and it won't even function.

I have lots of important file in there. How do i recover these files?

Even right now- the external hard disk is making sound.

Unplug it. Turn it off. Try again. If that doesn't work see if you can get someone to recover the files.

I try that all the time with no luck. I even restart the laptop. It didn't work at all.

I wonder if the files can be recovered?

take it to a professional data recovery company.

depending on how important the info is depends on how much you can afford to pay. some recovery's can be fairly expensive.

If its full of tv episodes downloaded off the net, with dvdrip divx's and pron then youre better off cutting your losses and going to a lan party to get it all back.

if there is genuine info on there that you can lose, you might have to find a way to justify spending money on professional services.

yellow pages will help you out with finding them...
