my bad, i guess i was thinking about the geo metro. haha. but, it gets me to work and back very nicly. fishtails like non-other tho on ice and in the mud even when going extreamly slow. probably going to atleast get a new set of rims and window tint(big guy+ tiny car= people laughing at me. tinted windows will take care of that) and the reason for the new rims is, the ones i have on now are freakin tiny. like 12X4s, and it just kills me. they look retarded. the thing i really like about this car is the trunk space. its HUGE for the cars size. all in all, i enjoy the car(as a beater)
Honestly for a beater you should go with small and wider rims. Get some that can "take a beating" no pun intended. Small like maybe 14 inches? 15? just anything wide and strong would be could on that car.

i agree. there was a few on there i really liked... i think they were 15X7 and looked pretty tough.
Regarding gas mileage, I used to consistently get 43 mpg on my 1993 Mitsubishi Mirage S coupe. That is an experimentally determined figure -- not something out of an ad.
wheels could be tough and or expensive - oems are tiny then the bolt circle is an odd pattern, be careful buying wheels for it. Good score for the $$$ - you'll get that back in mileage provided you don't crash it trying to jump some hay-bail (j/K)
