e36 suspension
I have a 94 325is.. I am thinking about getting a new suspension.. The one right now is stock, I am planning on just getting new shocks/struts with out upgrading the springs.. What would be the best way to go??
|
If you're not changing the springs, then Bilstein HD's are a slight upgrade from the stock Boge's. You could also try Bilstein Sport or Touring, but those are not designed to match the stock springs, although some people do it anyway.

Yea, I have been doing some searching around and reading about different set-ups... I have read and heard a lot of things about the Bilstein HD's. (good things).. It doesn't need to be a huge upgrade because I am never on the track or anything, I just want a good reliable set-up that will last and if its an upgrade then thats great! Thanks!

Definitely a good improvement over stock. That is what I did 2 summers ago- Bilstein HD's on stock springs. A bit stiffer, less roll and better cornering. More responsive. And the ride gets even smoother after a few months of break-in.

Sounds good! Did you do the install yourself? If you took it to a shop, how much was it? Also, where did you get the bilstein HD's? I see them online but I also have seen them on ebay.. or isn't that a reliable place to get new bilsteins..

I bought them from Bavarian Autosport (www.bavauto.com). For the front struts alone, I was quoted at $530 labor, so I installed them myself. Here's a great Do It Yourself tutorial from a fellow member:

uuc stage 3 suspension, the car sits a bit lower, handles better than stock, but almost rides exactly the same, not as harsh as a lot of other setups.
