offset problems? - United Bimmer Community

The wheels and tires that came with my car rub on the inside of the fender whenever someone else is riding with me or with hard shock compression. Then I got snow tires w/wheels that are stock dimensions (205/55/16). I think the offset on the other wheels is too little.

I don't have much to spend on getting new wheels and such, so would going with a lower aspect ratio be enough? The other ones are 235/45/17, IDK what offset they are, but it's just barely rubbing.

If not, would rolling the fenders help? I don't really know what that is, but I know it gives some clearance.

Rolling the fenders is done on the outsides.

are you sure its not a blown strut or incorrect strut problem and not a tire/wheel problem.

I do need to replace my rear shock mounts, and it does rub more in the rears, but the front is fine and it still rubs some up there. I have ac schnitzer springs and bilstein shocks that are pretty new, not stock struts BTW.

For starters your running the wrong size tire. It should be 235/40/17 or 225/45/17; you never mention what the offset is and how wide the wheels is...

Yeah, I know, the wheels are from the previous owner.

I got it aligned a couple months ago, with the other wheels (not snows) on, and I guess I can't recall it rubbing, but I never had any passengers in the back after the align. If it does end up rubbing I can get 235/40/17's, though.

I don't know the offset, but I could measure them I guess. I don't even know what type of wheels they are (either BMW or reps). I'll get a pic up. I'm just trying to avoid having to buy new wheels.

Here we go:

If the tires are the wrong size that's good news, better than buying new wheels. BTW, does anyone know what wheels these are? It would help a great deal if I know what they are.
