I'm sure this will start many arguments...however I just changed from fuzion (which I thought was a crappy tire) to bridgestone potenzas. They seem to grip just a little better, but I need to take the same turns at the same irresponsible speed on the way to the tire place to really tell the difference. Now I got a good deal on the tires, they are brand new which is good for when I go north where inevidibly it will snow for my month-long xmas vacation, however I had a technical question. I do know that slightly softer springs on your ride will give more body roll, somother ride, and in SOME cases more raw lateral grip (but only if you REALLY know how to drive!), whereas firmer springs give a harsher ride, but crisper turn-in with less body roll, and often times its easier to control your car. I was wondering if the effects of slightly less or more air in your tires did the same thing--i kept my fuzion's high in the normal pressure band, and I had a little less roll from my car than with the bridgestone's which i haven't even checked my pressure on (just picked my car up an hour ago).
I'm just trying to see if the bridgestone's really have more grip, or if I just got ripped off.

The potenza is a good tire and grippy. You can control how the car rides with the tire pressure and also how it handles. Less air might make a softer ride but you probably loose grip capabilities. I'm not sure where you are but keep in mind its colder and colder = less grip no mater what tire you use.

which potenzas did you get? i recently got new tires and wanted the G009 again, but they, and many other potenzas have been discontinued.

I have the G009s. My buddy has the Pirelli, softer than the Potenzas, harder than the Yokohamas. I'm going for Pirellis when I'm due.

Pirelli will be my next choice as well

right now I'm running on Continentals...
great tires for everyday driving, and waaay better than the Michelin stuff

You guys want a really sticky tire? Look into the Falken Azenis RT615, I know many guys who swear by these to be the best tire for the money. They are about the best Street legal AutoX tire out there, the only problem if your going to track your ride they get a little slippery when really warm.

Might also want to look at the Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212, these are supposed to compete with the Azenis and I am running them on my 318 and am really happy with them and they have nice loads of grip too!

Toyo also makes a some really good performance tires.

i have potenza g009's...the car handles like...well, we all drive bmw's, so we all know :-)

more grip is probably dangerous at this point!
