CNN just showed a report from West Palm Beach, Fl of a cop posing as a homeless guy on a corner of a busy intersection. He stands there like a "panhandler" with a sign - "can you spare $183.00?" That's the fine if you run through the light/intersection he's monitoring. He got 75 people in one hour. He has counterparts on cycles down the road he calls when he spots car(s) blasting through intersection when light changes. I'm to lazy but there's a video link at CNN.com

That is entrapment, to some extent.
The ideal function of the police is to PREVENT crime. NOT sit there and let somebody commit the crime and then cite them. Factually, if that cop were in a patrol car, more people would be aware and check their speed, be more cautious at lights, etc.

from my understanding, people in miami stop on red if they have time, which they never do.

You have three choices, stand behind our troops, grab a gun and toe the line with our troops, or stand in front of them, they can use the extra armor.

nope, entrapement is where you have no other reasonable option but to break the law. youd be surprised, may speed trap set ups are a radar car, who clocks you and call you in to the signal officers who signal you to slow down and normaly down the road is a persuit car.
the role of an office is that of order maintenance( being seen and hence detering many crimes)
responsive ( responding to 911 calls and things he observes)
and investigation
on a side note, why should the presence of an uniformed officer be nessasary to the punishment of criminals? i mean i like ideas like this, and opose ideas like traffic cameras so im just interested in your, or anyone elses opinion

im aganist traffic cameras too. i read that in montgomery county (here in MD), areas where they have put traffic camera, accidents have increased by 40%. also, they always misidentify the subject in the pictures. for instance, my father in law has been sent tickets 3 times for violations in washington DC, but he hasnt been there in years, and the vehicle in the picture is no where near what his is.
i hate peopel who run red lights. Its horrible in San Francisco. Even the busses run the lights.
I have seen a couple of cases where a guy stops at a red light, looks both ways and waits for a semi safe clearing to take off and run the red light...atleast hes curtious?

Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.
