New Homepage Online! - United Bimmer Community

The new United Bimmer homepage is online!

Look around and I'm sure you'll find a whole bunch of new goodies.

One thing I'd like to talk about here though is the Wallpaper Gallery. I want to build a very large collection of (mostly) BMW related wallpapers for people who are getting bored with their current backgrounds. If you are logged into the website, everything is connected. The homepage login, the forums login, the photo gallery login.... everything. (And trust me, it took me almost 8 hours of solid programming to get that stupid wallpaper gallery to integrate with the forums, haha)

If you are a member of the forum, you're allowed to upload new wallpapers to the gallery, and they're automatically added... so help us build it! As a logged in member, you're also allowed to rate wallpapers from 1-5 stars and post comments about them. If you are a moderator on this site, you'll notice a few buttons no one else has (the site is smart and knows your access level). These buttons will allow you to delete pictures, edit comments, or delete comments. Please use your moderation skillzzz and keep the wallpaper gallery appropriate and in good shape as well as the forum.

But without further delay, poke around and leave feedback on it.

(and yes, it will be updated regularly unlike most other forums.

Erm, typo on the Wallpaper Gallery link. Fixed now.

Check it out and post all your good wallpapers there for everyone else.

I uploaded a few examples, but just to make sure it worked correctly.

I'm still working out some glitches with the mail, so you can't register for it yet. It's coming.

That's why I haven't been very active in the forums the past few days, I was scheming this. hehe

And this isn't an out-of-the-box portal. Everything there is handmade and programmed by me, and all scripts I did use were HEAVILY modified (so there's only the skeleton of the original left). I didn't like any of the existing cookie-cutter portals, so I made us our own... hopefully better than all the others.

Any suggestions for it?

damn Harry, you really proved that you have SERIOUS skill. I am completely astonished at how amazing the homepage is. Everything has such an awesome layout and is so well coded. Much much better than so many other forums homepages. Now we just need people to put up some awesome wallpapers **caugh** woodie **caugh**

Yeah, until last night it was. lol, the homepage used to just redirect to /forums... that's what is new. lol

*Just fixed a bug in the code for adding wallpapers so now it fills in "Submitter" correctly*
