What do you all think of this, and I wonder if it's technologically possible . . I think it should be, using 5 digit codes like on American Idol, etc. Maybe UB.c can get its own code.
Let's say you're going through the course of your day, and something happens, or you see something odd, funny, etc. (like a raspberry 6 series). You take a snapshot of it with your camera phone, and somehow send it to UB.c right on the spot, along with a few words & your member name. Or a member is taking a road trip and wants to send pics and whatnot. Maybe it gets automatically posted to a new section of the forums, for other members to view & discuss or whatever.
I think it could be a unique thing that other sites don't have, and saves the time of having to pull the photo from elsewhere to post here.
I don't know. I'm not too savvy with all the cell phone wizardry . . How does sending a pic to another person's phone work? Is there some sort of email way to do it? So the 5 digit sysem is only for inputting text? can't you just wave your magic wand and make it so??
i know the 5 digit thing is for specialty services. like those dumb jokes that you can get daily to your phone, or googles SMS service.
sending pictures you can do with MMS. with sms and mms you can send to an email address which would probably be easier to do then with the 5 digit numbers. with TA you set up an email address like celsdogg.password@tamw.com and send the pic via MMS.
so setting it up on a server side wouldnt require knowing anything about cell phones if email addresses are used, you just need to figure out how to convert a message with a picture into a thread or something. . .
Dudesky, it would be easier (& less nightmare for Harry) just email that pic to you're own email box then post & write a short descrip to go along or explain the pic/video... The logistics are a nightmare + phone #s would be shown a creator (Harry would have to convert that # to your screename to make it a "members post")
It's a good idea & cutting edge (vs other forums) but Harry would have one helluva a challenge to make it work.
^^^ thats why i said use email addresses when sending thru MMS instead. it could be sent to username@unitedbimmer.com (i know there are already email addresses there, but just as an example).
then your cell phone number wouldnt matter, because the thing that is designating who it is from is the email address you are sending to.
example: i set up celsdogg@unitedbimmer.com as the email address that is to receive messages from my phone. anytime something is sent to that address, then it would be known that its from me (leaving security out of this for now to make it easier).
then all that would have to happen is the server take the image/video from the message/email and puts it into a thread.

That's EXACTLY the same as sending to a regular e-mail box anyway. It wouldn't auto- post like Dudesky wanted to do. He wants to auto post from a phone and it would be a nightmare for Harry.
^^^ it can be done, i do it all the time at textamerica.
the email address is just an address, not an actual email spool, so its not a regular email account. so when it receives an email, it takes the media out of it and saves it to a designated area, then creates a new thread under the designated username.
that would be cool, and to be honest, i didnt really read celsdogg's replies, but i think he knows what hes talking about!
thats a sweet idea
