All text america does is translates emails though. I'm not sure if you can do that with a multimedia message... I need to look into exactly how they work.
as far as i understood it, it was the cell phone network that translated the MMS into an email, because once it leaves their network it has to be an email, otherwise regular email servers would not know what to do with it.
it was cell phone companies that introduced using email addresses in SMS and MMS messages. so it should have been up to them to implement a way to convert those messages.
