Recent Server Lag - United Bimmer Community

For any of you on in the past hour or so, sorry for the INSANE lag (to the point where to load ub.c's homepage took nearly 10 minutes, and for all you geeks, my ssh session was timing out before it could validate my password).

I host a friend's World of Warcraft clan site on this server also, and well, they're pretty good assumingly. Anyway, they beat Blizzard (company that made the game) employees in WSG (a battleground) twice in a row and took a video. Now, beating Blizzard is pretty much unheard of, but they did it.

And there's the video. Nearly a 100mb file that they decided to host on my server, and link to in the WoW forums. The thread the posted ended up being sticky'd in the General Chat forum (their biggest forum with THOUSANDS of people online constantly).

You can guess what happened.

I took down the video, kicked the server a few times, and it's all good now.

So sorry about that lag spike, but I think I just felt the slashdot effect without slashdot. lol

The server UB is on can handle a lot, but not 13,000 people requesting a 100mb video in the period of 48 hours. lol

You've got the info wrong ..

The video is of the PRs and Devs of WoW hacking and screwing arounc in the game. They spawn big raid monsters in the middle of towns and stuff. Good times. =P

We also have a video of us normally beating them. But this was after we beat them a couple of times they decided to have some fun against us.

I did not link it on their forums, the PR's got ahold of the link and posted it and stickied it. They changed it to fileplanet about 10 minutes after, but word had gotten out and people shared the direct link. If it wasn't changed, the whole site would have come crashing down

CS 1.6 that is. That also means me > you in CS 1.6 or Source. Sorry, but I haven't shat-talked about CS in a year since I played it.
