Unread threads marked as read

Hey all (i.e., Harry),

I keep missing out on stuff because the software marks threads as read once I have visited the forum or subforum in which they reside. Is there any way to make it so that threads will only appear as read after one has actually clicked on the title (or any o fthe various other links into the actual thread) and actually read the thread?

I hope I am explaining myself. This morning, when I first entered the lounge, I noticed there were new posts in about 10 to 12 threads. I read one of them, and when I was back out of that thread and back in the lounge, none o fthe thread titles appeared in bold type.

Can this be changed?

Hum, I believe it's because unread threads are marked by activity. So if you visit the forums, and don't read everything, it assumes you have. I think that's part of the software, but I agree it would be better on a per-click software.

I'm about to head out, but when I get back later tonight I'll look into seeing if there's a way to change it.

Is that like....when I read one thread in the 20 or so that I didn't read while I was working...and had to go eat dinner...

and came back on to check the updates there were only like 4-5?

Yeah, I tried the advanced tab in search and it didn't like me.

I'm going to each series and clicking to find what I missed out.

I agree it is rather annoying, i open threads in a new window so I can go through all the threads that I havn't read but it marks them read in all the categories even if I didn't visit them. Very easy to miss stuff

All right, it was set to auto-reset them after 15 minutes of inactivity. I can't eliminate it because of how vBulletin works, however I did extend it to 30 minutes.
