United Bimmer / BavToys Partnership

All right, major announcement.

Ouri from bavtoys has been in talks with me and Rooz for a while about this, and it's all coming together now. :redspotda

United Bimmer is soon going to open a Lighting forum, sponsored by bavtoys. In there, bavtoys is going to post up all kinds of articles and use UB as a medium for directing customers who have questions about the installations and their products. People from bavtoys will be on that subforum almost constantly, answering questions and such. The lighting forum will be private, so members must register before they can post there, similar to the Lounge (thus protecting bavtoys's material a bit, as well as boosting the number of members who register for the UB forums). In exchange for the sponsorship, they're going to direct lots of new traffic (and thus new members) to us, as well as adding a few links around www.bavtoys.com to help us out in the search engine rankings (including their homepage).

It's more of a partnership than a sponsorship in my eyes, since neither of us are exchanging money (except any additional sales they make through UB), however we're both helping each other out. :wiggle

Now, that said, I have a proposal for you guys. Most of you have probably been following the UB Roundel Ad thread:
http://www.unitedbimmer.com/forums/u...d-roundel.html
Umnitza has offered to potentially match whatever UB raises towards the ad to split it with them, and double the size and/or length of running (months). The ad will be fairly broken up between Umnitza EAST showing off their headlights, and UB spreading the word about our community. It may go something like this (purely an example off the top of my head), "For aftermarket lighting visit Umnitza EAST, and for the community to show them off visit UB." Something like that.

Now, this proposal is completely up to you guys. We already have well over $1,000 pledged in donations toward the Roundel Magazine ad for UB. If you would like to include bavtoys, we can make this even larger, promoting multiple months in a row. If you guys are uneasy about adding a commercial spin on it and would rather it just be UB, Umnitza EAST said they're fine with it. It's your call, let's hear what's on your mind. :shades

Either way, I'd like to publically thank bavtoys for their major support of United Bimmer and I look forward to a long, positive future with them. :thumbup

Hey, I think it's a cool idea, but umm, as long as we don't get too burried in advertising crap like werkz.

Nope, they'll have their little corner of the forum all about lighting (which we don't have at all now, so it'll be a nice addition)... and that's it. Every other section will remain untouched.

BOOYA!!!

WOOT!

Dude, I think this is great. Not only will we get an incredible amount of publicity from the Roundel ad, but bavtoys has created a great name for themselves with incredible customer service, and if we can be connected to that, I am all for it!

witeshark 03-16-2006 12:20 AM

Yeah! That's what I think! :adance

Do you mean the add or the forum?

doughboyea 03-16-2006 12:22 AM

Then I'm all for it! DO IT DO IT! This could make UB and bavtoys very close in the future. :)

Umm, I was refering to Bimmerwerkz, at least that's what it was called last year when i was last there. Too much advertising. Not only did it drastically slow down my computer's performance, it also was a big turn off. ie. linking words in your post to advertising sites automatically....

United Bimmer has always been founded on a few major points. That\'s one of them.

Read my post back from April of 2005:
http://www.unitedbimmer.com/forums/6894-post1.html

The important part of it:
Quote:

Some things we will NEVER do on United though is:
-Popup Ads (ohgodpleaseshootmenow)
-Contextual Advertising (those annoying green links that infest posts)
-Annoying Flash Ads that invade the website, scrolling/floating around the website
-Any kind of ad with sounds
-Any kind of ad that expands with a mouseover
The forum was founded with me saying that, and it'll never change.

This could really help the community grow. I'm all for it
