Our Real Names
 

This comes in reaction to the therad in the lounge where we are posting our names. Can't we just add a name field to our personal profiles? That way members can enter their name there if they want to. Finding out a certain member's name would be a lot easier this way, given that one wouldn't have to go through the thread to see what they posted, but one could simply look up a member by forum name, and easily see their real name (if available).

I think it's a good idea. I recently stuck my name in the 'biography' section of my profile. But I think the original thread is interesting, no reason why it shouldn't continue on :)

Hum, not a bad idea. Or what about having it beside the timestamp at the top of a post, like:

"Today, 06:23 AM Posted by Harry"

or something...

However some people might not want to give out their real name, so it would have to be completely optional...

Perhaps an automatic default if the member does not enter his or her personal name? It would default to thier member name. Just a thought.

next to the timestamp? meh i never look there, maybe under all ur info, like posts, location, etc

Yeah, but that column is already starting to get kinda large. Look up a few posts at dudesky's for example. Anyone who lists mods causes it to be pretty long, and in some cases, extends the height of your post even more.
