Yes, however if we're completely seperate forums we'll be starting fresh with the member base and people won't be able to post on different forums without registering 10 times, despite being in the same network.

if you are referring to my post about honda bikes, go to cbrforum.com or 600rr.com those are only bike forums, no cars, and they have some sweet bikes there, and a lot of the bike owners have bmw's

so, what sections exactly are going to be shared?
so far i believe you said
general automotive
comedy
maybe.. pic showroom? multimedia exchange?

Anything non-make specific.

And zeaq, it'll be a pretty long process of development.

I don't recall exactly who said it, but someone complained that things would get out of hand and turn into what we had last week and what the Honda forums have right now in the lounge.

But IMO the difference will be that we won't tolerate that shit. Take us for example. We had some nasty things going around for one night while Harry was asleep. Well, when he woke up he handled everything very quickly. It was all taken care of, and the proper bans were made.

I do not think that anything will change if we try to spread out and grow. The same philosophy will be kept. United we drive, united by passion, etc. It is all about the cars here. If you want to talk shit and bash, then go to the other forums. This place has always been, and always will be about the cars and the community.

Harry, I think you have an excellent idea, and I think that with your attitude about the whole project is excellent. I have no doubt that you can make this work. Not only is it going to take lots of hard work from Harry, but it will require all of the UBC dedicated members to keep the mentality of the forum the same way it is now.

When all of this gets under way, remember one thing. Lead by example. If all of us here at UBC show that we are mature and have a great community, we will attrack people alike.

I'm out for now....hitting the sack so I can wake up early and hit the books. Night y'all

Been sitting back, just reading what people have to say on this. I think it's a great idea; I feel like I'm standing on a foundation of a huge skyscraper about to be built. Chris has some good points, and I think it's good that someone is looking out for the potentially tough issues (as I'm sure Harry & the Mods are as well). I can see how the Lounge can quickly turn into disaster if not kept in check. There's definitely a lot to work out here, and it won't be an overnight thing, but I think it's well worth the endeavor

The idea isn't new; AutomotiveForums has done this with good success. We should check them out to see what works and how we can improve on their setup.

Definately.

I'm not worried at all about the Honda side, for example. Because yes, as we grow, we will still have the same tolerances and intolerances as we do now. If a Honda owner wants to act up, he'll be dealt with the same way as anyone else. United we drive. If anyone doesn't want to be united, they can go back to hondawerkz.com

What do you guys think about rather than me working on a beta site and moving it all over at once, what about me slowly doing the changes on the live site, so you guys can see it as it happens?

I think that's a good idea. It's always fun playing with live stuff anyway. Plus, if something pops up one night, and the members aren't too thrilled with it, we can take it out, or change it before it really gets going. It will be a gradual; "Do ya like this? How about this?", rather than a "Hey, here's the finished product that we've put a bunch of time into. What do ya think?" If that makes any sense to anyone, good. If not, could someone explain it better, who understands it? LOL
