regional forum outline
EDIT: komodo: Moved to Site Feedback from Mod Lounge for exposure. We've decided to add a regional forum due to overwhelming requests and feedback from members. We're trying to determine how to lay it out. We need you guy's input!
---------------------------------------------
as requested...
Regional Discussion & Event Planning
Sub Forums: Northwest US, California, Northern Central US, Southern Central US, Great Lakes US, Northeast US; Southeast US
This is a pretty broad set-up... and i dont know if northern cental and southern cental even sounds good...
Another way to tackle it would be to put together some states (minus the big ones...)
something like
Washington/idaho/oregon, California, Georgia/Florida, new york/new jeresey and so on..
Im pretty sure dtm actaully has a subforum for each state... which would also work..
One thing we would want to add to any of these is a section for canada, one maybe for europe, and we cant forget alaska hawaii and other islands

I think having all the individual states is a bit much for this early.
I suggest a mixture. Like California should probably have it's own subforum.... but not places like Idaho.
I say we make a few main forums splitting the country into pieces, then subforums of each of those for major states or bimmer populations.
Then I suggest we have a forum called "International" and if needed in the future, add subforums for major bimmer populations like Canada.

Split it this way: California, South West, North west... basically like 5 divisions

We'd need the North/South Central forums too...
I nominate:
--Southeast Region
(Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee)
--Central Region
(Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin)
--Northeast Region
(Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont)
--Northwest Region
(Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming)
--Western Region
(Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington)
--Southwest Region
(Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas)
--International
----Canada

i think we should break each one of those down one more time
first theres no way i could ever organize a meet for people in cali alaska utah and arizona... haha a lot of forums have washington oregon and idaho together... cali by it self nevada utah one other by them selves.. getting a 3 state meet together is hard enough.. i beleive we are getting big enough that we should have 3 state regions (except for the excpetions cali etc) not 8 state regions... just my 2 cents

True, but the meet doesn't have to be that entire region. They can look in their region forum to find local events. Might still be too far to go. For instance a Washington meet wouldn't expect people from socal to come.... but it narrows down the area so people don't have to overlook too many meets that are impractical.... most are somewhat close by.

Haha, yep.
We just want to get it out there now. You guys can keep suggesting changes, and we can make alterations on the existing setup.

i suggest moving Maryland, DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania all in the northeast, or a mid Atlantic forum. since the drivers around in these states commonly have meetups

i like the way the map splits it up except divide the Western region into North and South West .. rename the texas thing to central - south and montana etc.. into central - north. then leave the atlantic coast as is

even though we dont quite have as many members as Bimmerforums (yet! tehehe), i still think since there are so many members in the "DC Area" (MD, DC, VA, PA) that there should be a midatlantic forum, the regions right now i think are too big
once more people join the regional forums will be too hectic, i live in MD, i dont wanna get excited about meets and then find out theyre in NH. breaking up the northwest and central regions will make it much easier for members in our area, since theres a ton of people around and meets at Arundel Mills, Rockville, Baltimore, etc are very common. nobody in maryland will ever travel up to maine, mass, vermont etc for a meet and vice versa
