Common BMW problems FAQ

I'm currently compiling a list of common E36 issues which are traceable to manufacture and/or design (NOT common maintenance & repair stuff). If anyone thinks of something that should be included, PM me. Or if anyone else out there happens to be doing the same thing, let me know and let's share what we have. While other boards have this type of thing, I plan to try and make this one more comprehensive than theirs :rock and where appropriate, link to our own DIY's whenever possible.

I also plan on doing the same for other common bimmers (E30, E46 & 5series) at some point in the future, unless my zeal & enthusiasm runs out :o: For those I'll definitely need help, since I own an E36. I know lots of folks know stuff, but writing it all up is a PITA, and I don't mind doing that. Of course if someone else wants to give it a go, by all means do it :)

Question 1: where should this stuff go? Obviously there's the Tutorials, DIY's & FAQ's category. But many people go straight to the Model Categories for answers to their problems, and that's where I see most other boards sticky theirs. Then another logical place would be the new Knowledge Base, but it seems more geared towards DIY's. Thoughts??

Question 2: should regular maintenance & repair issues be included, or should I stick to factory flaws? Seems the list would be so long if we did both, and there could be no end to the normal repair stuff. Besides, I feel that kind of thing is what the individual model categories are for anyway. Thoughts??

Sounds like a great idea!

Depending on how comprehensive it is, I could probably fit it into the knowledge base. Like split the KB into a DIY area and General Tech Article area like that. For now just put it in e36 though and we'll go from there. :rock
