Moving UB Forward

Okay, brainstorm time.

We need a way to attract more members, and increase retention.

I was thinking about MMORPG's like World of Warcraft, and thinking what makes them so addictive and popular. It's the fact that the more you put into them, the better your character gets, which can be compared to others in the world.

In short, minus the psycho-babble... I'm thinking we need some kind of system that will make members go out and recruit more members... and those will spent lots of time on the site to put more into it, and get something out of it, a statistic of some sort (not reputation points, that doesn't work here).

Maybe I'm just mumbling on, but maybe this could be something to move us to the next level.

Any ideas/thoughts/feedback?

^^ we're doing that already.

I'm thinking something like maybe some kind of website-based html/php game and you get money for it by posts and recruitment. Like every 10 posts you make, you get $1 to spend on your e-car, and every member you recruit you get like $50 or something. Then you can buy rims and stuff for it, and show it off in your signature, or something like that. Then maybe later on be able to challenge other users to races.

Something like that.... whatcha think?

And then maybe you get freebies from the forum like decals or license plate frames, based on your score in the game... real life rewards for that.....

We need to start a race team and compete in some races. Then supporters = members.

I wished i could have gone to the meet you all had down here in july, damn i was crying after i saw all the pics.

any way, huge bimmer meetings could attract people, only you would have to advertise outside the site too. then tell them about the site and communnity and stuff

However unfortunately the meetups might be less now that I'm at college....

Though maybe we could start planning a HUGE meetup now for the summer in like 8 months....

Yeah, but who wants a car meetup in the winter? haha, much better if it's warm and sunny outside.

Anyway, whatcha think about the game idea?

I think a huge meet would be a great way to get members. we could invite the press and have the meet in the AJC (the wheels section) they're always looking for neat feature stories.

I think it is cool, but imo i dont see how that would attract new members, or give members the incentive to recriut.

Yeah, we've had other threads on simply recruiting.... let's brainstorm in this thread about incentives for recruitment and methods to make people want to go out and recruit... like first one to 100 recruitments becomes a mod or something. haha, or the game.

i like the game idea, and I think it would give new members a reason to stay. however, one of the things that needs to be done is to get publicity, via something like a meet. another thing to do would (as someone else said) is form a "team", get sponsorship, and tour car shows, getting the UB name out. people will see our freaking awesome cars and check the website.
