i like the game idea, and I think it would give new members a reason to stay. however, one of the things that needs to be done is to get publicity, via something like a meet. another thing to do would (as someone else said) is form a "team", get sponsorship, and tour car shows, getting the UB name out. people will see our freaking awesome cars and check the website.
that's true, but unfortunately we can't get our website on a "freaking sweet car" or build a successful team without a decent amount of money...
that all depends on how much the extra bandwidth would cost. if the cost was marginal and the system was well maintained, i think it could be successful.
^^ #1 that would require advertising
#2 everyone uses streetfire, why would they come here?
#3 if they came, theyd look at the vidoes, not sign up(for the most part)
#4 wont that use our resources and possibly make the website a little slower?

To attract people:
Advertise through hosting vids, car meets, word of mouth,
The game would be fun but keep in mind when trying to attract new people, promote benefits rather than features.
Post advertisements on free bulletins such as www.craigslist.org

True on all points, except the slower part. We're using like 0.000001% of the new server's capacity. haha
i think advertising might be exactly what we need. the main issue is that not enough people know UB exists, and the way to gain members is to get the name out.
Whatever you guys decide, I think it's just gonna take time. But I'm willing to stick with it. I personally know people who came and went because there simply isn't enough technical information here yet, in particular the E30, E39 & M3 categories. You can devise ways to get people in here all you want, but if you can't make them stay, then what's the use? The newly added Knowledge Base is a great step, but there's hardly anything in there. We gotta get off our asses, move out of the Members' Lounge, and do some writeups. Just look at how many members we have, and how many of them actually post. We gotta give them something to come for. My $.02.
(EDIT): My point isn't to bash and trash, and I hope no one gets that impression. I just mean to say we also gotta earn this if we want to make it happen . . like they say, 'if you build it, they will come'.
I agree with the lack of technical info, sometimes my post in the E30 section is up a week before it gets a reply.
But i geuss that should change with the new knowlege base thing. at least i hope
I am not gonna lie, most of the time i come here and go straight to the lounge to see what new posts there are, which is bad on my part, but im sure there are alot of members that do that also
Yes, advertising would be great, but we voted to get the server first, advertising later, so now we have a nice server with no members to fill it up. hehe
Because thats on topic, and because I care what you think my car looks like, when you yourself dont post any pics of your car, a little insecure i think

dont set anything up that makes people want to spam...
no free shit.
this is a bmw forum.
i think what we have been doing so far is good.
possible e-mails are rad, UB Garage, and the knowledge base.
please dont make games, or anything that will attract people that we dont want here... 14 year olds...
i mean, that knowledge base, once it grows, it will be amazing.
also UB Garage will be so sick.
