Forum topic change

I propose that we change "Detailing and Cleaning" to "Detailing, Cleaning, and Visual Mods"

Discuss.

We'll do whatever the outcome of the poll shows.

Bitcore, wanna post some reasoning behind your movement to change that? (basically, tell them what you said in the PM)

There's not much of a place to discuss stuff like that, besides Detailing and Cleaning probably won't change much within the next 15 years either.... so I feel, as it is now, it's too narrow of a forum topic
yah

Detailing, Cleaning, and Visual Mods is good. If you make it just Exterior Mods, then we need to make a Interior Mods one as well...

I'm kinda thinking Detailing, Cleaning, and Exterior flows better, because what exactly defines "visual mods"?

Eyebrows, debadging, E46 headunit faceplates, turn signals (although they are "electrical", they are really just for show so more visual than anything else) sidemarkers, exhaust tips, wheels, tinting... Look at Torque's mod list.

You know, al the stuff that Woobie does to his car...

I agree with torque, although there are fewer mods to do inside that are difficult to pull off well with class and without being ricey, they wont have a place if we just do exterior mods.

It could be a great spot for somone to start a poll with a few things and asking people to choose their favorite of a list of pictures or something, It wouldn't clutter up the member lounge or Model Categories badly with stuff that can simply be partitioned to a topic of it's own.

The "Make yo' kar look nice" topic.

well... I got one problem with it... what does visual mods... say a rear diffuser have anything to do with what kind of wax to use... if the site starts to get a lot of traffic... it might be nice to put the two in two different forums... just not to complicate things...

Dont get me wrong.. it will work fine for the time being.. but get 30k members in here... and it will be rather full...

Just my two sents...

agreed, Exterior looks better. and it would be good to make it all 3(cleaning, detailing, exterior) because it would center everything more to (said name).

it will keep the tech sections cleaner also so it isnt all about "how do i install this wing", i think its a good idea, you have my vote.

true, although we'll probably need a topic to plop all this crap down somewhere...
Remember, not all 30K members are posting here... if we have that many people, we are going to need to separate the model topics a bit more too for the M3's like bimmerforums does. Whatever works.

i think we should do it for now, when we get a lot of members in the months/years to come we can always change things!

Well, my opinion... Keep the Cleaning/waxing forum separate. Like 97alpinem3 said. I think the forum looks kinda cluttered as it is, however, making that one cleaning forum share the visual mods doesn't seem to match. They really aren't related. Cleaning, polishing, etc are all one topic. Installation of mods is different. IMO. Couldn't people just post in their respective model forums for the members opinions? Just a thought. There are a whole bunch of forums already.

Dough

EDIT: So what's wrong with using the showroom for ur visual mods? D

Showroom is to show off stuff, not ask questions.

Yea, but it's all visual.... I mean, that's where people have always asked, "Whoa where did you get that from" or "What do you guys think"... etc.
