Updated Rate My Car!
There was some discussion about how people were getting a bit annoyed at how they were getting the same members over and over again in rate my car, and never seeing the new ones.
I just completely a bit of renovations on the system, and now when you go to rate my car it goes through the list of everyone and compares it to all your past votes. If you have not voted for a car yet, it bring it up first. This way you see every car at least once before you start repeating. (After you've voted for every car in the system at least once, it is randomized.) This also gets new cars in the system a bit more exposure because when they're added, everyone has to rate them because they'd come up first, since no one has rated them before. So if you guys all go to http://www.unitedbimmer.com/ratemycar.php, there should be a bunch of new cars for you guys to rate that you haven't seen before. :) Enjoy! :redspotda |
bout time! lol :p

What about people who change their picutres or stuff like that? Will they be counted as "new ones"?
very nice change. thank you
Awesome..Thanks a lot.
I think it would be cool if when you change your picture your car goes back with cars not voted for yet.
Nah, but I was thinking about an option in everyone's control panel to reset all their votes. That way if they change a bunch of stuff on their car and have a bunch of low votes from before, they can zero everything out and start fresh. Whatcha think?
^^ sounds like a great idea!
Yeah that would be awesome.
do it komodo!
Only thing is it would take awhile for you to gain places since part of your rank goes by the number of votes. I think it shouldn't matter so much about number of votes. I don't think a lot of people use rate my car much now since it's not so new and there are some members with really nice cars with really high votes that are ranked in the thirties and fourties.
i agree that number of votes shouldn't weigh so heavily. i think it has an adverse effect on the rankings

Yea, who can take it seriously when an E46 M3 gets 1 (5), 4 (6's), and 2 (7's). What types of people are voting and what is their main objective? Is it to low ball people to jack up their score? I know my car is not even close to 5, 6, or 7 material. Its things like this that makes it hard to believe it isn't anything but popularity vote...
This is just my .02 and it really doesn't matter what other people think about my car. I just want to show the validity of the whole voting system, which you really cannot control. People will always skew the voting to help improve their standings. I guess it is human nature. I take it with a grain of salt and just laugh..... |
That's good, but you also have to understand a lot of people rate the cars based on the mods. If someone has a 95 m3 with 10 grand in tasteful mods, it'll probably have a higher score than a 2004 m3 with a dinan intake. You see what I'm saying?
But I do agree your car deserves a high score based on the fact that it's a beautiful machine alone. |
I agree komodo 100%. The point of my post wasn't to question where my car sit in the voting, but to point out how a lot of people can’t make an unbiased vote. I was using my stats for two reasons, 1) I cannot see other votes on other cars, just mine and 2) It bares proof people have something to gain for giving low votes.
Someone having 95 M3 with 10 grand will probably have a higher individual/overall score than "04" M3, but that still has nothing to do with somebody giving a fine example of a very nice BMW a 5, 6, or 7. See what I mean. I don’t mean this to be a knock on the voting system just a statement of how no matter what type of voting system you have there will always be someone who tries to manipulate it….. The way you have it setup is just fine. We just have to trust the voter’s and live with the results…. |
