Arrow Rate My Car Has Gone Live!!

After MANY hours of coding (from scratch)... the United Bimmer Rate My Car system has gone live!

Access it via the homepage, on the left side nav bar, click on Rate My Car.

If you're logged in, you can sit there and browse through the cars, rating them from 1-10. The top lists are automatically updated realtime (no delay like other sites). After you configure your car and add it to the system in the My Profile link within the system, you can access the My Stats page, to see how many votes of each number you've recieved (for example 16 votes of "9", 8 votes of "10", etc.). There are features where people can be banned from the system if they abuse it (reread this, haha).

The system is intelligent. Each user can only vote for a person's car once. Refreshing won't do anything, lol. If you vote someone's car a 7 for example, and it comes back up later and you vote it a 8... your vote will be CHANGED to an 8, not an additional vote added. This prevents unfair floods, and allows people to up or down your rating with any mods that you do to your car since you got added to the system.

Right now it's only one car per user account, but the system is coded dynamically so in the future you can add more than one car (version 2.0). For now, only post your favorite car. haha

The voting pool is random, so no scripts can be used to automate voting (even though it'd only be effective for one loop through them).... however the same person won't come up twice in a row.

The rest is pretty self explanitory. Poke around and try it out.

Hope you guys enjoy! haha. Let me hear some feedback on how you guys like it.

P.S. I added Kevin's car for testing purposes, but he doesn't know this yet. hehe

So I'll take it down when we get more cars in the system.... or he can just login and keep it updated himself.

And email is coming soon also, that's my next priority.

Holy crap, you guys are rating a bit high.
Deloriant's average is like 9.1. I like it, but leave youreselves room! Someone's going to get an M5 or something and you'll have to rate it right there with that 328is.

In time, this entire website will be dynamic. United Bimmer will be more than "just another forum"... it will be a community.

I just updated the top lists. Now when you click on a member, it will show their Rate My Car page rather than their forum profile. That makes more sense. haha

Any feedback/questions?

Red, sure, change your pic whenever you want. That's why people's votes can be modified. For example if someone adds a new spoiler to their car and it looks awesome, people can change their old vote from a 7 to an 8.

I just added the 6-10 (only 9 now, but 10 max) as normal text below the top 5 on the side navigation. Do you guys think that's a good idea, or what? When I get home, I can make images for 6-10 also if you think that'd look better. Basically, how do you think the right sidebar should look?

I think 1-5 is good like they are and then 6-10 smaller is good too.

I was screwing with the thing and like every time the page would refresh each 6-10 ranking would move to the bottom i was liek what the hell?

e90jimmy brought up a good point.... "OK, I may be a big Geek, but if someone has just one vote that is a TEN, then they win. Right? "

We need to develop an algorithm that balances the average ranking with the number of votes. Anyone have an idea for how it could work? Is there a better way than just the average times the number of votes... and compare all those big numbers? That wouldn't be too effective because if you have 12 votes of "3" and 4 votes of "8".... the rated "3" car would be above the "rated" 8 car. If a lot of people vote it horrible, it can actually bypass cars that less people vote amazing.

Someone else have any ideas for how the internal math could work?
