Possible Electric Seat Swap?

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to exchange manual cloth seats for electric leather seats? I have a 1999 E46 318i and have been offered a set of leather electric seats from a 2002 E46 320D but am unsure of the suitability for my car? Has anyone else done this? Thanks for your help.
Barry.

My only thought right now is, how would you connect the power for the seats? I'm not sure that there is a power connector there, of course, I've never taken out my seats, which are powered, to see.

either way cloth to leather would be a nice upgrade right? and i guess if you cant find out ahead of time then take out the pass seat first and see if they mount up well?

Installing powered seats in place of manual ones is fairly simple. I've done it. All you need is run 12v (also use a 30amp auto blade holder in between) to pin 13 and ground to pin 14 on the seat plug. This will enable the power and lumbar function (if the seats have them)

Enabling the heating function is a different story.....requires rewiring your fuse box and purchasing a new switch panel.
