So i took my car to the mechanic, getting spark plugs, fuel filter replaced, called him up. APPARENLTY their is OIL ALL inside where the spark plugs sit. he told me to replace the valve cover gasket, plus im getting chain tensioner replaced.
DId he Just F me or is that what really needs to be replaced?
and....is there anything else that would need to be replaced besides the valve cover gasket that would let oil get where the spark plugs are, or is that pretty much it.
Happens all the time, not unusual. The plugs usually fire under oil, no problem- that's why people don't realize the gaskets are leaking. You need all three gaskets: 1 for the perimeter of the valave cover , and one for each bank of 3 spark plug holes.

Unless there is a crack in the head, leading to a oil gallery under pressure. Chances are very slim. I have never heard of it, but possible. And there is always a chance that someone spilled oil when pouring it in the engine, during a oil change or top-up.
$12???? i got mine for four!! and they were the bosch iridiums.
wow, DIY FTW.
dane cook reference:
"yeah, we had to replace the roof because it was resenting the rest of the car and peeling back. and we also found a tiny unicorn in your exhaust. it was punching holes and shitting in your filters."
"how much is that going to be? $7000? i was going to say, i would like pay $7000. thank you for not fucking me big time."
okay, back on topic...
