Spark Plugs replaced, OIL EVERYWHERE help

So i took my car to the mechanic, getting spark plugs, fuel filter replaced, called him up. APPARENLTY their is OIL ALL inside where the spark plugs sit. he told me to replace the valve cover gasket, plus im getting chain tensioner replaced.

DId he Just F me or is that what really needs to be replaced?

and....is there anything else that would need to be replaced besides the valve cover gasket that would let oil get where the spark plugs are, or is that pretty much it.

thx

The gasket seems legit, but have a look at it first.

Happens all the time, not unusual. The plugs usually fire under oil, no problem- that's why people don't realize the gaskets are leaking. You need all three gaskets: 1 for the perimeter of the valave cover , and one for each bank of 3 spark plug holes.

I think Bosch plugs are stock, so they are fine.

he already got them, but would there be anything that would cause oil to leak into the spark plug things besides the valve cover gasket?

cause it seems like that's the only way it'd let them leak in is through the valve cover gasket, but I was curious if there were any other possibilites

That's correct, it's the only way the oil gets in there. There's no other entry point to the plug well, except of course the plug hole itself.

Unless there is a crack in the head, leading to a oil gallery under pressure. Chances are very slim. I have never heard of it, but possible. And there is always a chance that someone spilled oil when pouring it in the engine, during a oil change or top-up.
