My Tacoma Pictures

Okay, so the Tacoma is out of the shop and I had a chance to wash it yesturday. A few of you wanted to see pictures when I was thinking about selling it and buying an x5, but if you remeber she was in a wreck shortly after the discussion began. How does she look?

And the pictures...

I love the look of tacomas, but the interior has always been on the bland side. Great trucks, they run forever.

The last pic is pretty cool, with the other red Toyota in front of you. Taco's are awesome, my only issue with them is that it's a real challenge to get a good subwoofer in them (w/o taking away interior space).

All Prerunners are auto's but my wife and I raced and, 325 vs. Tacoma, it was a pretty tight race. It seemed to shift pretty nice. But the Bimmer took it in the end.

And Dud, it is impossible to fit a sub anywhere without losing what little space it has. I have thought about somehow mounting it in the Jack storage compartment, but one 10" would be the only option.

Tell me about it. I had to do an install in my friend's. He had the extended cab, so I was able to get a high power 10" sub by making a "center console" in the back.

^^That's not a bad idea, was the sub visible from the outside of the truck. I havn't had good luck when my stero equipment is visable.

No, it was concealed. I made a console which fit over the small hump, carpeted to match the interior carpet. The sub was mounted under the console (which was raised slightly), firing downward. That way, the bass hits the floor, then radiates outward and up, so it's diffused and not slamming the occupants directly. It was such a tight squeeze that the edge of the speaker frame was less than 1/8" from the outside wall of the box. Still waiting for the guy to take pics, if/when he does, I'll pass them along.

^ Pics would be sweet. How much time did you end up putting in it and what kind of speaker was it? Were you able to get enough air-space behind the sub. I am quite intrigued by the idea.

The sub was a Kicker L7 10", and I managed to get it working nicely in .5 cubic ft of volume, with a good amount of polyfill stuffing . . . that increases the effective box volume by up to 15%. As far as time, it took me about 3hrs from start to finish, but that's not typical . . I have access to a fully equipped fabrication shop.

if there was one pick-up I would buy, this would be it. It is the perfect size, it will run forever, and it looks good. What more could you want from a truck?
