Hoosier BMWCCA HPDE Report

As some of you may know I was at the local bmwcca's driving school. I posted a report with pics and video at my site:

http://nightdevils.com/viewtracklog.php?event=TR01

Figured it might be helpful to some. Since several of you are dedicated track addicts I would love to hear from you about tips/tricks/experiences.

Shawn

Cool report, I can most definitly say some of those tips are good, smoothness and consistency being some of the best things you can have, also the driving with the gas pedal with that thing you can make the car handle much better, I know your wieghs a lot more then mine but the gas pedal will allow you to change what its doing.

Your comment on watching the guys in your mirror you cant do that, sure know they are there but dont try to drive faster because your just going to start driving poorly, concentrate on your line not theirs and just let them by at your 1st chance.

I notice in your pics that you are lined up really close to each other, my instructors have always told me to keep enough space to go around someone if for some reason they aren't ready to roll that way you can just pop out infront of them.

Sounds like you had fun and want to do it again, look out you will be getting addicted to it.

isn't driving in the rain the greatest? i think it's THE best way to drive on the track. most people don't drive on the rain, so it's nice and empty, and it really shows where your inconsistances are.

sounds like you had fun.

You know I never been to a driving school heck I never even went to to driver's ed. It must be a lot of fun to to that stuff. But check out German's Nurburgring. It is 12.74 mile like 73 turns and open to the public during the weekdays til' 5:00. Also one lap costs less than 20 euros and you buy a ticket at machine. It's awesome! Except when the Opel station wagons are the track and you're cruising through chicaynes at 180 km. But it makes out to be a lot of fun especially when people you know that brought their little rice burners to try play with you.

Ya it's wonderful track. And it's constantly fast. It is such a long course that sometimes its hard to remember that you are on a race track. I should get back to Germany sometime before I put my winter tyres on. So I'll try to go out and post pics. Man I wish the tracks in the states were like Europe's.

pretty much, there seems to be a lot of open tracks like that. germany is for open about letting weekend racers do what the do best. I think it helps with keeping the racing off the streets. ya know.
