my weekend sucked

So the car works no problem, all is good there. I got back up to school on sat eve and turned on my computer and then in the corse of the rest of the day it started to smell like burning and then stopped working all together. I think my rev A imac g5s power supply died. I have looked into it and it appears as though the repair is going to cost about as much as a new computer ($900-1000), but I have to go back and get an estimate today since compusa's apple guy wasn't in yesterday. I am also out of waranty for it so that means the cost comes from my pocket unless I can get this to cover it: repair extention program and my serial numbers are in the affected range, so I can only hope, but I will probably not be on ub.c for a few days.

P.S. i like how the homepage shows up now.

Check out http://www.tekserve.com/. They're around here in NYC. Give them a call, and find out if they'll be cheaper. Or, if you're daring enough, see if they'll just sell you the PSU and maybe you can install it yourself. I have yet to work on an iMac G5, but I think it should be pretty straightforward.

Update, I took it back in today and it is covered so I won't have to pay anything, thank god. Here is what happened to, the guy said they had a problem where a transistor would get too hot and leak onto the logic board and essentially fry it (hence the large cost if this wasn't covered) But luckily its allright and I should have it back by friday.

Unhappy

hah my wekend sucked as well.

Goddamn wheel hub came off, (read the manual dikhead!)

anyway here are some piks which took me 2 and a half days to fix.

Anyone know where i can find the tool to press the front ring and the back ring so it snaps into the bearing ... Because hitin it with a hammer just was not even scratching the surface, if you know what i mean.
