BMW head criticizes U.S. auto giants

Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 05:00 JST
TOKYO — Recent tough financial situations for U.S. top carmakers have resulted from their failures to focus on what consumers truly want, the head of German automaker BMW said Tuesday. Chairman Helmut Panke said that now is not the time when carmakers can survive only by concentrating on their products, without serving users' likes and interests.

"A consumer wants to be basically sure that he or she gets a right product," Panke said in a luncheon at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan in Tokyo. He also said some German and Japanese carmakers have successfully increased their shares in the U.S. market by bringing in difference, quality, reliability and lower prices than those set by the U.S. Big Three auto giants.

Helmet said it elequently to appease the media - what he meant was "American car mfgrs are a bunch of whiners when they don't make excessive amounts of ca$h, peddaling their "shit heaps" to "joe ignorant consumer". Don't blame foriegn manufacturers for being smarter, installing quality & value - and for US mfgrs downfalls". You don't buy a Rolex at Walmart - so what do you expect?
The only way you could give me an american built car is if I:
a)needed a winter beater
b) was homeless
c) was deaf, dumb & blind
d) was planning to car bomb someone.
