Unhappy I can't find my cd drive! Help!

Ok, so I tried to install a program today and my computer didn't recognize the cd. I tried other ones and it didn't recognize those, either. I checked My Computer and apparently I have two hard drives but no cd drive. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and that didn't work either. Wtf?

well k first of all a CD drive is pretty easily visible on ur comp tower. Its probably not cause u dont have a CD drive, but because the disk is in a diff format for ur comp to read

Well, I know where the physical drive itself is, haha. Oh, and it's a laptop if that makes any difference. But when I checj my drives in the "My Computer" section my cd drive is nowhere to be found.

laptop, ooh that makes it different

2 hard drives, that might be your problem, are they phsyically two hard drives or just two partitoins? if they are physically 2 hard drives, you may went to check your CD drive, if its a primary master, secondary master, or primary slave, keep it at primary slave(or secondary that dont matter)

i dont know if this is the same with a laptop, but you can probably change that stuff in the BIOS if there isnt a little jumper on the back of the cd rom drive(b/c its a laptop, i know its a big mess to take it out)

Your driver might have gotten corrupted.

Can you physically eject the cd's, or does it not appear to have any power? If it responds physically (lights on and such), the connection is probably fine, and it's probably software related.

Yeah, the power is fine; it opens and closes normally. It just doesn't recognize any type of cd I put in it.
