Angry Flat spot on accelleration in 1st gear.

Hi I am driving my 1999 BMW 318i since brand new. I had experience a fuel cut out on acceleration in first gear, so I replaced my airflow meter. It helped a great deal. Now I need a crank idling valve coz my idling drops a lot it is not constant just under a 1000 rpm's. Also as I pick up a constant momentum then all of the sudden my ASC light comes on and the car retards and gains momentum again. Now I have my air bag light staying on, it doesn't want go off. Please help me with this problem. My CD -exchanger doesn't play at all but the radio goes on. The tape player also doesn't play. These are just small issues I guess it is happening now with age but I still love my Bimmer. Can anyone help here please.

You should start by getting the OBD system scanned for codes. Its possible that the computer has stored a trouble code that would help indicate, and isolate the problem.

If its going into the "ASC mode" then theirs probably a bad, or worn out sensor. The ASC kicks in when it senses loss of traction. If the sensor is bad the computer cant tell whats going on with the wheel and may get false readings.

Check your wiring loom going into the trunk. Their known to fray and cause shorting out issues.

Tell me if I take it to a BMW dealer will they charge me to do an OBD test. Or is there any other way I can have it tested?

Im not sure about South Africa, but in i know in North America most auto parts stores will do it for free. I would call the dealer and ask just to make sure. Or call an independant mechanic. If you have a friend with a Code reader then thats the prefered option.
