DIY (please sticky):Blown Rear Shock Mounts!? E36 Tower Complete Replacment!

Guess What I found? and actual DIY for fixing this:

THIS DIY is CREDITED to THIS LINK:
http://www.tcdesignfab.com/E36%20Rea...ck%20Tower.htm

BMW E36 M3 Rear Shock Tower Replacement

A very common problem with the BMW E36 cars is that the rear shock rips the rear shock tower mounting holes. The only way to properly fix this is to replace the tower with a new factory piece. You can then use the Z3 rear shock tower re-enforcement plates to help strengthen the top of the shock tower. Most after market rear shock tower braces also have a re-enforcement plate that mounts the brace on the car. The owner of this car also had us install the Ground Control rear shock mounts.

The guy that did this confirmed that the welding labor is moderately easy and should be in the $300 range plus parts...also by getting the Z3 reinforced shock tower it will make it better than the original OEM E36 tower!

I'm happy again...

I also found a BMW mechanic and tommorrow he will look at it. He even admitted that it happens with E36s all the time and he's done the same repairs lots of time before...

BTW the DIY link is credited here:

I don't know if I should sticky... it's a great DIY, but you didn't write it. Great resource, yes, but not original if you know what I mean.

Referencing them via a link is fine, but copying the photos & work verbatim is copyright infringement

BUt I did reference and posted the link. I also credited to the original writers...
If anything, you guys should at least use the link...to their E36 DIY pages...I don't think they will sue over linking publicity for them and their great DIYs!

Yea, I 'infringe' here and there on posts; I doubt anyone is gonna flip over it. I just meant that UB's official stickies constitute original members' material. I think Harry wants to keep things legal, but more importantly to avoid creating bad blood w/ other sites. You should post the link in the tutorials & DIY section though.
