Chevy Avalanche + 325 + city curb -> FTL!

Nah, I was turning left, and the chevy tboned me going like 60 or something. the back end did a 90 degree swing and I slid over the curb. The white stripes you see on the ground is the pedistrian crosswalk. Here's the other side of the car...

More pics if anyone wanted to see. Sorry about all the pics with asses all over the place. It was pretty hectic at the accident scene for a while. http://www.nics.deltaanime.net/gallery2/caraccident/

Whoa... lucky you weren't hurt.

I'm assuming the accident was declared the Chevy's fault?

Looks like it was in the Garland area? There's enough trucks in Texas to start a small war... I use to live in Arlington and that section of 30 between Dallas & Ft Worth is nutts... If they EVER tagged eveyone speeding along that stretch of road they'ld be able to pay of the nat'l debt You can be driving along at 80mph and people will blow by you like you were on jackstands

Yes on the mini topic, and the 40K price seems a little high, I guess with a JCW package it would add significantly but I would think there are not that many of those. I agree for a 40K price tag I would be looking at something else probably a nice used e46.

Well me and the Chevy were both in the wrong, it just happened that I was 'wronger' since I was turning left on a yield, and he was going straight and speeding. SUch is a life, but I'm really glad that I walked away without even a hint of whiplash. And actually, the accident was in Arlington, at the intersection of Matlock and Bardin behind the crazy Walmart on Cooper. I'm told that accidents happen on a daily basis at that intersection, go figure.

And can you believe the JCW package is over 6k?? Too much for me. I'd rather go for some aftermarket upgrades for a whole lot cheaper and push almost as much as a factory JCW if not more. The only downside is there's no warranty on aftermarket, but that doesn't worry me too much.

what are you talking about? the mini cooper s is $20,900. my dad got one 3 years ago, and it has everything but the john cooper works, the 6-cd changer, it was $28,000. so i dont see where you get the 40k from. if you want to go with the convertible, its only about $5,000 more, but personally i like the look of the hardtop.

which makes it even more ridiculous, because I would think the prices would continue to go up.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Minis are not my cup of tea. Even the Cooper S isn't to my liking. Too small.

so lets look at your car. a 1997 Camry is longer by 46 inches, but only taller by 2.8 inches. and the mini is wider by 5.1. so if you look at the specs, the mini will park way easier, stay on the road better, and has a lower center of gravity, making cornering a breeze.
the 2.4 liter (AUTOMATIC!!) camry's gas mileage is 24/34. the mini cooper s (MANUAL!!) is 25/32. but i doubt you can get that much out of the mini when you drive it like it was meant to be. It is very much possible to get under 15 when you have fun. the camry is 500 pounds heavier and has drum brakes in the back. the camry goes from 0-60 in 11.8, the mini in 6.8. end of story.

^^^ Dude, whatever, he doesn't like it then he doesn't like it, no need to flame him. Thats not how we roll around here.

But anyways, you take that 40k Mini S wihtt eh cooper works package, and something tells me you'd be going pretty close to an M3 after you consider weight and the shortwheelbase and such.

And uhh.... 6k for the JCW is not that bad, think about how much an aftermarket FI kit costs NOT INCLUDING install.

Why does everyone always say stuff like that? Parking is parking, no matter how big or small your car is. I've owned a Chevette, a Toronado, and everything in between those sizes, and never had problems. It's all in your skill.

I looked at them before I got my E46. I liked the mileage, power-to-weight, handling. Didn't like the price, ride and the fact that an Oklahoma highway would shred one in a year. (At least the ones I traverse daily.) They are a 9.8 on the CUTE scale which just isn't that important to me. I think they are the perfect car for your friend to own so you can drive it once in awhile!
