Loss of Power

The RPMs drops everytime I try to go over 3000 rpms... What could be the problem? Being stationed in Seoul, South Korea doesn't help... The BMW mechanics here want to keep the car for two weeks and charge me $1000 just to look under the hood. I've already had the sensors, filters, plugs, etc. replaced... and I'm still feeling the loss of power. Although it does go over 3000 after I've been driving for a couple of hours and increased the octane in the gas. Please Help!!

Welcome to Ub.c

I would do a compression test to see what condition your cylinders are in. BMW had issues with Nikasil lined engines back then; hopefully a comression test will rule this possibility out. More info here:

It sounds to me like fuel is being cut off only a particular engine speed. It could be a bad injector or the f*c*ed fuel rail.
