dude..honestly look into a 328is. If you want some balls but have less of a chance to kill urself...it seems perfect. Seeing how u want something that has some status..ull have the model right under the flagship M3 of the model range.

it was ecianice if i remember correctly.

i have been reading this thread and i keep wondering what you have driven in the past? you have to get a feel for what kinda power cars put out and it just seems that you throw these numbers out there without knowing the feeling that these give you under the pedal.

i may *only* have nearly 170hp, but it can move pretty well itself. id stick with what numark said, a 328 may be perfect, especially for now.

yeah... you can't even compare the Altima's 170 to an E30's 170 hp...
also, none of these cars have RWD. And they're probably a lot heavier. Why don't you test drive a 328?

Try finding one at a used dealership, even if your not going to buy it from them. If you can't find one then find a private party that you could be interested in buying and drive it.

Dude get on autotrader or something and find someone selling one and go check it out, this includes test driving it.

IMO if you find an e30 with no rust on the frame it's worth it. Repairs are pretty simple even if it runs crappy . It'll also be cheaper and drive better than most new cars.

I had an 87 E30 325 base for my first car. No frills, but you can do little mods at a time and feel better about it. That will also keep cash in your pocket. I had a pretty serious accident in it, and it literally saved my life. They are amazing cars, I would go that route. Look hard and you can find a nice model out there...

I like E30 but moded ones kinda like yours. If I get an E30 I want to upgrade the suspension and build up the engine maybe even swap for an S52 or a turbo or somthing like that. I don't think an E30 is very fast stock.

Well it might have only 168 hp but that's a shit ton compared to the weight of the car. I've passed so many "sports cars" in my little bimmer. And like you said it is easy to mod, the last person I saw switch out the engine produced so much torque that he added weights to the trunk to stop spinning out. Small car = smaller engine not simply because it can have a smaller engine but because it isn't heavy enough for a big engine. Not to say it can't be done well, just that there are more effective mods than switching engines.
