I did it

Well, for those of you who know, I started raising interest into getting a bike (as seen HERE, and HERE). So this weekend, I took the BRC (Basic Rider Course) and passed with flying colors

It was 6pm-9pm Friday
7am-4:30pm Saturday and
7am - 2pm Sunday

It was a lot of fun and the instructors were VERY nice. In fact, at two points on Sunday I did two big "oupsy" and they helped me out. First of I arrived ~10 minutes late on Sunday (Remember about half way to the place I had left my book at home), and since we started off Saturday and Sunday by ridding (due to less heat exposion), they let me slide off, but made me do a tad bit extra work (like helping them at the end picking up gear and such).

And my second big "oups". I the Rider test at the end, they told us, besides of doing everything wrong (meaning loosing too many points) Only two ways you can "not" pass the rider test, falling off your bike, or dropping your bike. Well I was one of the better students, had never fell nor dropped the bike nor ever came close to anything like that.

Well, one of the tests was stopping, they set up 3 cones, you make it from cone one to two to gain speed, then at the second cone, you apply both front and rear brakes and down shift. I did all that, I made it to the speeding zone, then applied my brakes and down shifted, but something went wrong and one of the tires locked up and the bike fell (not me) but I had already braked and all. Turned out something had gone wrong with the bike . The instructors talked amongst them self and they agreed it was technically diff. But they also asked the students if they were ok with it, and everyone was. So, they allowed me a do-over (after they fixed the bike). So that was super nice of them!

I learned a lot and I think that getting a bike will be very exciting. The ones we rode on were very small (size wise) I looked like a giant on one of them (I looked really goofy ridding one of those bikes). But engine wise they were 125cc. But that was too slow, so I think just for starter I'll probably start on like a 300cc, use if to a few months, then get a good 600

But any who, if anyone is thinking of getting a bike, I HIGHLY recommend taking one of these classes

PS: here is a pic of how goofy I looked, lol

Here is the bike I'd probably get when I have time. I've sat on one before, and it's really comfortable for my height. It does kind of have an ugly front though.

I was pretty nervous at first since I had never been on one, but the class really boosted my confidence level

I've seen that before, it kind of looks like THIS bike, if I were to buy new, I'd prob, start off with something along those lines.

They do, the bikes they offer are freaking amazing! But they are a tad too expensive for me to consider one as a starter bike, lol

Thanks, and yes, bikes are really sensitive, I mean the slightest throttle action and it goes a LOT faster really quick, lol

But, does anyone know or any any experience with motorcycles? I could use some good advice for a nice starter bike....

Maybe one of these?

Bike 1 - SOLD

Bike 2

Bike 3

Congrats Rooz! For Ninjas, maintenance is VERY important. Sounds like the last one has had everything done, including the valve adjustment - that's a $200-$300 maintenance job. I have to do one on my bike over the winter.
