Hmm.... lemme go flag down mullet or witeshark, they'll be able to help you out with the fog light issue. I know in the older E36's you pulled the fog light out from the inside of the bumper to replace it. if memory serves me right, thats how the 740's work too. try that, and if that doesn't work.... i'll drive out there and yank it out for you
as for the crankshaft sensor, lemme look around a bit and i'll get back to you on that in the next ten minutes or so.

Well, on the e36's, there is a hole on the bumper on the side of the foglight closest to the middle of the car (inside the brake duct). If you stick a screwdriver in there, you can unpop the part of the bracket holding the foglight in the bracket. This lets you slide only the foglight out.
Crank position sensor is just about straight down following the oil dipstick tube. I believe that the wire passes behind the tube.
One cap screw holding it in.
Spacing between the sensor and the flywheel is semi critical. If there is a spacer reuse it, if not don't worry about it unless it doesn't run after the new sensor is installed. I believe it is supposed to be 1 mm between the sensor and the teeth on the damper.
