F*** the sunroof!!!

I got my middle finger and my ring finger jammed in the sunroof today when my head 'accidentally' activated the sunroof switch.

I was trying to put back the cloth that was covering the inner panel. It had gone saggy and just stuffing up the sunroof mechanism when i opened it.

We get a lotta sun and rain and its blazing hot here 90% of the time. Meaning i seldom use the sunroof, just me opening the windows cools the car down and some side tints.

My fingers are now a shade of violet...

Cracked opened the sunroof motor panel and thought since i don't use the sunroof anyway, can i just remove the sunroof motor, wirings, cables etc.. and just seal up the sunroof permanently??

I won't miss it. IF i can do this i just wanna sell off these parts since i won't be replacing or needing these parts at all.

What do you the rest think?

Btw, i was trying to get to a card that had fallen behind the sunroof panel...

Been so long since I've done it, maybe someone else can remember here. But if you open the sunroof just a tad (maybe 1/2" of movement), the inner panel can then be pushed back by hand. This way, you can repair the cloth. Use 3m spray adhesive sold in any automotive store.

As for getting to the sunroof cassette, look at my headliner DIY in my sig.

As for a sunroof "delete"? Good luck, you'll probably need sheet metal, a welder and everything else to make the outside look alright. Not to mention the inside... I don't know if you can get a headliner without a sunroof hole in it. I haven't seen it.

I think he wants to keep it there but just disable the functions and remove the motors, etc.

Or just remove the sunroof fuse. Seriously, it will be much easier than removing the motors, etc. It is not like you can make much money from selling the 8 year old used parts you would remove.

The fuse, the fuse. sometimes the best solutions are the most simple ones. thanks DRZ...

I've put some foam rubber to knock out the rattles and just took out the fuse. It doesn't bother me anymore. I cut out a plastic frame to take up the place of the sunroof cloth. Looks ghetto but i don't drive by staring at the roof of my car. My dad's able to weld on a new sheet of metal and do the bodyworks involved but i'd figure this is a cheaper option.

Thanks again DRZ
