Wow. I have never It that bad before. Backfiring thru the intake can only be caused by a few things. Extreme lean condition(vacuum leak, or no fuel), if ignition timing out of wack, or something mechanical like a jumped timing chain.

Look under the intake manifold. These hoses should be connected.

i will double check any vacuam leaks. and i was looking at the Idle Control Valve do you think its possible because of that?

Also how do you check for ignition timing and for a jumped timing chain...

also how to check idle control valve if still working...
"note": i took the idle control valve out and using possitive and negative and all it did was vibrates...and even on the engine...it still just vibrates... does it mean it still good?

would you hear a click sound...because i believe there is a click sound before every backfires... (if you listen on the video you probably can hear it before you see the flame).

Thanks for your help Death2000....

I doubt the idle vmcontril valve would cause this. My ICV failed and the car wouldn't idle, not spew smoke. The ICV does need to be cleaned over time though.

Here is the Pelican Parts DIY article on cam timing:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...aft-timing.htm

Here is a thread from Binmerforums which delves into some more detail and might help too.

OK!...thanks for every thing!! Death2000! car dont choke no more....(what it was doing on youtube)...

I think it was a two hose that connects to the intake box...

i hooked up to the intake box and it didn't choke no more!!!!
THANK YOU!!!

BUT!

1. Car starts hard seems like its not getting enough car or something...
i turn the ignition car and seems like it will build up air and slowly hear it going to start and then it starts...
and then
1. the rpm idles up and down, up and down... and if goes under the number 1 rpm then it dies?!???
i wonder what it is?
before it wasn't this bad to start it...
i cleaned the ICV with carb cleaner and hooked back up and go worst!!??
could it be the ICV?

2. also engine smokes and smokes comes out of the PCV what could that also be??

3. and is it normal for bimmers to spit out oil from the dipstick when car started?

please help me...and THANKS ALOT!!!

I know that when my ICV needed replacing it wouldn't idle at all. The car would start, and then immediately die. I had to constantly keep on the throttle a little bit or it would stall. If yours is just idling really rough start with a vacuum line. Disconnect the MAF and se of that fixes it.

The PCV is a valve so check to make sure it's not worn out. As for oil sputtering from the dipstick I've never had it removed with the car running so I wouldn't be able to say.
